The Kickstart Scheme is a new £2 billion government programme, announced earlier this year by the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak.  It aims to create hundreds of thousands of new job placements for young people aged 16-24.
As part of the scheme, you could recruit a young person on a 6 month placement – benefiting your business, and offering support.  The government will fund 100% of the National Minimum Wage for 25 hours per week, as well as associated National Insurance contributions and minimum pension costs.
Research shows 16 to 24-year-olds are twice as likely to have been furloughed during the coronavirus pandemic while 250,000 more under-25s are claiming jobless benefits since March.
