The Partnerships and Business Engagement team is looking for an exceptional Business Support Officer with a passion for working with academics, businesses and the knowledge exchange community to deliver a European funded project. We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled person to support the delivery of a unique business support programme for small to medium enterprise businesses across a range of industrial sectors in Lancashire. The primary focus of the project team is to support companies in a structured programme of activity with a focus on cyber security and digital innovation. Domain knowledge of cybersecurity/digital innovation is desirable but not essential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong capability and expertise in seeking and working with companies, supporting them in their growth and development. As the business support delivery lead for the project, you will be able to clearly demonstrate your ability to plan, market and run structured workshops with multiple participants (online and in person), work one-to-one with companies, and be able to write a wide range of reports and other material to support the community and individual companies. Working in a highly innovative team, you will be able to showcase innovative approaches to working with companies and helping them to grow, with clear evidence of developing new process and systems to engage the SME community. You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to work on large government funded projects with high accuracy and attention to detail. 

The role is part of the Lancashire Cyber Foundry (LCF) ERDF project. The LCF is a world-leading project to support businesses in Lancashire, regardless of industrial sector, to develop business growth strategies with cyber security and digital innovation at their heart. Lancaster University will be providing a range of business workshop support activity (online and in person), guided research and technical development. The LCF project benefits from the successes of the similar projects such as Greater Manchester Cyber Foundry (GMCF) ERDF project in which Lancaster University is a partner. As such you will be working alongside colleagues from other ERDF funded projects.

This role is home based with the expectation of a few days a week at Lancaster University (government restrictions depending) and be embedded within the School of Computing and Communications PBE team. You will join us on an indefinite contract however, the role remains contingent on external funding which, at this time is due to come to an end on 30 August 2022 and is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
