We are delighted to announce that an opportunity has arisen to join our established mainstream Fostering Team. We are currently looking for passionate social worker who would like the opportunity to support our local Foster carers and Children in Our Care to support placement stability and achieve permanence.
Our Fostering Team as a whole is well established with a range of professionals who bring a variety of differing skills, with access to the Adolescent Support Unit. The Therapeutic support service called REVIVE sits alongside the Fostering Team providing direct support and consultation with a designated fostering support officer, available to provide additional therapeutic support to Foster Carers and children. Within these roles you will be provided with the opportunity to work closely with other social worker teams, building close links for inter-professional working and gaining experience and skills from both.
Along with participating in recruitment activities and assessment of prospective carers you will participate in the supervision and support of approved foster carers, undertaking elements of foster carer training and supporting the continuation of team development.

We are a unitary authority that is proud of its strong prevention offer; there is a range of services that wrap around children and families. We have an Adolescent support unit, a dedicated family group conferencing team, an in house therapeutic team which is led by Clinical Psychologists, family support services, that provide intensive support including out of hours’ support.
·We achieved overall Good in Ofsted and excellent in other areas such as our ASU (Adolescent Support Unit) who work with high school aged children and their families to prevent them entering the care system and have had great results. Our next goal is to provide the same service for our primary school aged children.

·We are currently piloting a more flexible/agile working approach allowing people to be more flexible with opportunities to work from home. At Blackburn with Darwen with do not believe in hot desking and therefore you will be provided with your own desk and secure area.

It goes without saying that you will be HCPC registered and have a thorough knowledge and experience of legislation, statutory guidance and regulations relating to children in need of support or protection, fostering and permanence.
