Your car’s battery is one of the most important items on the vehicle. Without it, you’re really not going anywhere.
So, when a vehicle’s battery breaks and it needs to be replaced, you’d think the best place to head to would be your local brand dealership – but you might be wrong.
Always shop around for the best deals
Research carried out by callieread@hotmail.com has compared the cost of new batteries from different sources for Britain’s 20 best-selling vehicles.
It found that some dealerships can be up to four times more expensive to source these parts from than buying them at an independent garage.
For example, Mercedes C-Class owners could pay up to £1,248 for a battery replacement when heading to a dealer, but as little as £315 elsewhere. It was a trend seen replicated up and down the list.
